Hardest thing in poker

Two of the most difficult things to do in poker, even by poker experts' standards, are to play your big hands and to fold.

To a novice poker player, playing the big hands sounds so easy. Little they know that these big hands require a lot from their players. Novice poker players would bet all-in if they got a big hand. If the other players will sense that this player really does have a good hand, then they will fold. For a novice poker player, this seems good.

But for the poker experts, this novice poker player has just wasted a good opportunity to catch a bigger pot. An expert poker player, when handed good cards, would try to trap their opponents and make them call instead of fold. They would not want to scare the other poker players at play by betting a lot. So, they would raise a big amount for them to earn big, but small enough so that the opponents won't fold.

Therefore, if you get big hands, the idea is to catch as many fish to your net as possible. This could make you the chip leader, but do not get over excited. You might mess you're your chances up. Do not let your chance pass by; do not get too emotional.

Another thing that is hard to do in poker is to fold, most especially your good cards. Novice poker players find it hard to fold their big hands, even though it is obvious from the community cards and the betting pattern that other players at the poker table have already formed way better hands.

But it is not only the novice poker players the ones who cannot fold their cards easily. Even professional poker players are still on the learning process of this skill of folding. This is very hard to do because you have to give up your pride, and you also have to accept the fact that luck is not on your side but on the other poker players. To fold is to surrender to your poker opponents and give up your rights to the pot. This is difficult because poker players generally want to push their luck and fight for their good cards.

To be able to say that you are good in poker, you must be able to do these two things. Poker is a decision-making game so learn how to come up with your decisions wisely. Do not let your emotions take over your game. Poker is a war, and your weapon is not only your cards, but also your mind. Poker leaves no room for emotions, so leave them else where before joining a poker table. If not, then watch your poker opponents as they trample upon you.
